Like its title, memoria hospitis unius diei praetereuntis or the remembrance of a guest that tarried but a day, this temporary installation/intervention exists as a physical reality for just one day or to be precise a series of single days between December 21, 2001 and June 22, 2002, winter and summer solstice respectively. The project commences at dawn (subject to seasonal variation) on the above mentioned dates at the Louvre Pyramid at dawn with section 72, Man's Disportion from Pascal's Pensées. The text will be distributed and recorded poetically over the immediate vicinity. Then the artist, Aprille Best Glover, will proceed in a spiral pattern sequentially though each arrondissement of Paris leaving and documenting the rest of the cut up text . The remaining text will be placed by chance correspondance with the environment. Travel will be by foot, metro or taxi depending on timing and fatigue. All recording by artist of installation while distributing text will be by digital photos. All video will be filmed while in transit. All other documentation is subject to chance.. Artist shall continue to distribute text and document distribution until 12:00 midnight June 22, 2002. |
